Softbank Hawks

Hiroki Yamada recorded his 5th victory of the season (career high) and extended his scoreless streak to 16 innings.

Orix Buffaloes

Mamoru Kishida got the day off today; Yoshihisa Hirano was used in his place as closer.

Kazuki Kondo worked out with the Ichi-run roster today.  Still no word on when he'll be added to the active roster.

Hayato Terahara needs victories against the Hanshin Tiger and Rakuten Eagles to become just the second pitcher in NPB history (after Kimiyasu Kudo) to record victories against all 12 teams of the NPB plus Kintetsu.

Rakuten Eagles

Masahiro Tanaka recorded his 50th career victory tonight.  That's 50 victories in 5 years and 106 games.

The Eagles are strengthening their data division -- representative director / owner Toru Shimada will head the new data division; Akihito Sasaki will take on duties as vice head of the data division.  Said Shimada, "We're now in our 7th season and we've got a database full of information.  We need to take better advantage of that data and use it to help improve our team."

Both changes are effective 6/1.

The Eagles are still waiting for a fan to return the game ball from Satoshi Nagai's victory on 5/31 (significant because it was his first victory since becoming a father) -- Ryan Speier accidentally threw it into the stands after the game.

Teppei played in his second Ni-gun game in as many days today (he went 0-for-4 yesterday against Ni-gun Nippon Ham).

Manny Delcarmen asked for his release from the Seattle AAA affiliate today. I wonder if he is headed to Seibu.
