Hiroshima Carp set new Central League record for consecutive innings without a run

by on Jun.03, 2011 @ 10:38 pm, under NPB

The Carp managed to score 3 runs against the Orix Buffaloes tonight, but not before they set a new Central League record by extending their runless streak to 50 innings.  The previous record of 49 was set by the Yakult Swallows in 1996.

Akihiro Higashide was responsible for stopping the streak with a 1-out RBI double to right in the bottom of the 7th inning.
