Nippon Ham Fighters

Yoshio Itoi was pulled from today's game on defense in the 5th due to tightness in his back (something he first started feeling on the 3rd).  Itoi did not go to a hospital and instead received treatment (icing and electrical therapy).  He is considered day-to-day.

Rakuten Eagles

Hiroshi Katayama tied a Pacific League record when he gave up 10 runs on 10 hits in one inning (the 4th) during today's game against the Yakult Swallows.

The Eagles made some changes to the coaching staff before today's games against the Yakult Swallows: Koichi Tabuchi was named full time head coach (from head / batting coach) and Atsuhiro Motonishi was named the new batting coach (from assistant batting coach).  Club rep Jun Yoneda told reporters during a press conference that the move was made so that Tabuchi could focus all his efforts on being a head coach and that they felt Motonishi was more than capable of handling the batting coach position on his own.
