Yuki Saito turned 23 yesterday.  In addition to receiving four carts worth of presents, he also received a cake from a fan -- a team official told reporters that the cake was properly stored in a refrigerator since Saito was out all day yesterday (it was a day off for the Ni-gun players).

For practice today, Saito threw 23 pitches in the bullpen.  He also took some soft toss BP (for lower body workouts) and spent time signing autographs for about 50 fans.

The Fighters announced that Sho Nakata will be inviting 100 elementary school students from Sapporo to a game on the 12th (vs Yokohama); and that Yuya Ishii will be inviting 300 people with hearing disabilities to a game on the 11th (vs Yokohama).

Rakuten Eagles

Some fans at Jingu Stadium were calling for Senichi Hoshino to step down.
