CL News and Notes: Michihiro Ogasawara (YOM) should be back in the starting line-up

Chunichi Dragons

Motonobu Tanishige did some rehab work and light training exercises at Nagoya Stadium today.

Hanshin Tigers

Even though it was a travel day today, the Tigers held workouts for all their position players at Koshien Stadium today.


Yasutomo Kubo spent about 5 hours working out (including rehab) at the Ni-gun Naruohama training facilities today.


Naoto Tsuru started a Ni-gun game against Chunichi today and gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits over 5 innings of work (he pitched into the 6th).  Tsuru had allowed just 1 run over the first 5 innings of the game and then gave up 4 hits and a walk in the 6th.

Yomiuri Giants

Michihiro Ogasawara should be back in the starting line-up tomorrow at first base, batting third.


Yoshiyuki Kamei went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base during a Ni-gun game against Yokohama today.  He was the starting third baseman and batted 2nd.  Yoshinobu Takahashi also played in the game and went 0-for-2 (strikeout, fly out to left); he started in right and batted 9th.  Both players were removed from the game after 5 innings.


The Giants announced today that they will have a team store at Tokyo Sky Tree when it opens in 2012.


The following personnel changes were approved during a stockholder's meeting today: Takuo Takihana steps down as owner; Tsunekazu Momoi becomes president / owner; and Hidetoshi Kiyotake becomes executive managing director / general manager.  The moves are all effective as of today.

Yakult Swallows

The Swallows will be hosting Swallows Family Day on 6/18 and 6/19.  They'll also be hosting Revecy White Presents Yukata Day on 6/25 as part of their Ladies Day 2011 project.

Hiroshima Carp

The Carp held full practices at Mazda Stadium today.  Takahiro Iwamoto and Yoshiyuki Ishihara both took extra rounds of BP.  They don't have a game tomorrow and will hold practices at Mazda Stadium tomorrow before traveling to Saitama for a 2-game series against the Seibu Lions that begins on Thursday.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Shogo Yamamoto will probably start tomorrow's game against the Rakuten Eagles.
