Tsuyoshi Wada will probably make his start tonight against the Yomiuri Giants (at Yahoo Dome) as scheduled. There was some uncertainty about whether or not he would make the start after he took a batted ball off his right ankle during his last start on the 1st.
Tatsuya Oishi could pitch an inning during a Ni-gun game against Lotte on either the 14th or 15th. He'll probably begin his rehab games as a reliever and work his way back to starting sometime around July. Said Oishi, "No problems with my right shoulder, and I'm not feeling rushed. The other rookies are working hard so I need to be working hard as well."
For the Lions' next round of Inter-league Old Timers Pre-Game Ceremonial At Bat at Seibu Dome:
vs Yomiuri Hanshin: 6/11 - Sumio Hirota will face Naoki Takahashi; 6/12 - Akinobu Mayumi will face Hisanobu Watanabe.
Chiba Lotte Marines
The Marines return to QVC Marine Field for a four game stretch against Hanshin (6/8, 6/9) and Hiroshima (6/11, 6/12). The Marines are 0-7-2 at QVC Marine Field since their last victory on 5/14 (vs Rakuen).
Nippon Ham Fighters
Yu Darvish has tossed 2 complete game shutouts in a row (with 3 complete game shutouts over his last 4 games) and has not allowed a run over his last 35 innings of work.
Sho Nakata told reporters that it might be better for him to focus on being a contact hitter right now since home run hitters can go through dry spells.
Yuki Saito is expected to toss around 80 pitches over 5 innings during his next rehab start on the 12th (Ni-gun game vs Lotte at Kamagaya).
George Foster (US scouting advisor) worked with Mike Hessman and Aarom Baldiris during practice yesterday.
