Tsuyoshi Wada recorded his 21st career Inter-league victory (tops in the NPB).

Hitoshi Tamura was hit by a pitch on his left hand (near the pinky) during his third at bat in the 6th inning of tonight's game.  The Hawks decided to take Tamura to the hospital because he also suffered a laceration.  Tests confirmed that he suffered no broken bones but did have a fairly deep cut.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito spent some time signing autographs after practice at Kamagaya for the second day in a row today.  Said Saito, "There were only a few fans...  We're here because of the fans.  They're important [for the game]."

Haruki Nishikawa had his right shoulder cleaned out at a hospital in Tokyo today.  Nishikawa will be discharged on the 10th and will begin his rehab at Kamagaya.  In terms of hitting, Nishikawa might be ready to start playing again in about a month.

Orix Buffaloes

George Foster was the victim of a prank, in the form of a rubber snake in the dugout, set up by one of the players.
