Hitoshi Tamura got stitches for the laceration he suffered when he got hit by a pitch on his left pinky during last night's game against the Yomiuri Giants. Koji Akiyama told reporters that the cut was fairly bad and that it would take longer than a week for the stitches to come out (he may not be able to return during Inter-league play). Tamura added that he may have been better off with a fracture.
Nippon Ham Fighters
Yuki Saito's work outs at Kamagaya today included extra running (because he has the day off tomorrow) and trunk exercises. Saito also told reporters that he has managed to increase the amount he runs since his stint on the active roster.
Saito's schedule over the next few days: day off on the 10th, bullpen on the 11th, rehab Ni-gun start against Lotte at Kamagaya.
Luis Garcia was actually added to the active roster today.
