Takeshi Yamasaki hurt his right ring finger during his 4th at bat yesterday. He had the finger checked out at a hospital after the game and was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture in his right ring finger. Yamasaki is expected to undergo surgery on the 13th to place a wire in his finger in order to keep everything together and will likely need about 4 weeks for a full recovery.
Said Yamasaki, "I was told surgery would help speed up the healing process. I wish I could just go in and stick the bones together with glue, but no matter. I just need to get better fast."
UPDATE 6/13 @ 10:50pm - Yamasaki had his surgery today -- it took doctors about 90 minutes to set and place a titanium pin in his right hand.
UPDATE 6/14 @ 11:10am - The size of the pin: 1.7mm thick and 1.3mm long.
