The NPB after the big quake, Day 93 [June 12, 2011]

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles invited 168 earthquake / tsunami survivors from Higashi Matsushima, Miyagi and Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi to their game against the Chunichi Dragons today.  After the game, a number of players, including Masahiro Tanaka and Motohiro Shima, met with the survivors and signed autographs and took pictures.

This marked the second time the Eagles invited earthquake / tsunami survivors to a game this season.


About 28 local kids helped plant flowers like gazanias and begonias in a flower bed near the L7 gate at Kleenex Stadium.  The flower bed was also named Happy Rainbow.


The All Japan University Baseball Federation announced today that they collected 561,130 yen in donations for relief efforts in northern Japan  during the All Japan University Championships.
