by on Jun.13, 2011 @ 8:11 am, under NPB

Hanshin Tigers

Takashi Toritani extended his hitting streak to 6 games yesterday (8-for-22), as did Matt Murton (16-for-27).

Before yesterday's game, Daiki Enokida had given up just 2 earned runs over 24.1 innings of work.  But Enokida struggled with his control during his 1-inning stint in relief yesterday and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 1 hit, 2 walks, and an HBP.

The Tigers will likely take Yuya Ando off the active roster today after he had a rough first start of the season (1.2 IP, 5 H, 1 SO, 2 BB, 3 R, 3 ER).

Yasutomo Kubo started running outdoors yesterday.  Assuming no setbacks, Kubo could start throwing into a net next week.

Yomiuri Giants

Alex Ramirez hit his 10th homer of the season last night and has now collected double-digit homers in 11 consecutive seasons.  That ties the NPB foreign player record set by Bobby Marcano (Hakyu and Yakult) between 1975 - 1985.

Yakult Swallows

Shohei Tateyama was tossed from last night's game after he accidentally hit Nobuhiro Matsuda in the head in the 4th inning.  It was Tateyama's first ejection of his career.
