The media learned yesterday that a third year high school baseball player from Kitaotsu High School was arrested for reckless driving and driving without a license.
The third year student was arrested on 5/30 for allegedly driving around on National Highway Route 161 with a number of friends, on 6 minibikes, in the middle of the night on 2/6.
The Shiga High School Baseball Federation told the media that Kitaotsu High School contacted them about the situation on the day of the arrest. The Federation responded by asking that the high school provide full details in writing. The high school submitted the document to the Federation on 6/10.
No word on the high school's eligibility for the Summer Koshien as of yet -- the Federation will await the decision of the Japan High School Baseball Federation (JHBF).
UPDATE 6/16 @ 12:15am - The JHBF likely won't penalize Kitaotsu High School because of one problem player.
UPDATE 6/25 @ 12:38am - The media learned on Friday that the Kitaotsu manager is thinking about resigning.
