Masaru Takeda might have the best ERA in the NPB right now (1.30 in 10 starts), but he's also tied for most losses in the PL with 5. But that shouldn't come as much of a surprise, especially if you consider the run support he gets (1.4 runs per game he starts).
Tomotaka Sakaguchi collected 5 hits last night. Sakaguchi also had a 5-hit game last year (6/7 vs Hiroshima) and is now the first player in NPB history to record two 5-hits games during Inter-league play.
Hayato Terahara has not allowed a timely hit over his last 31 consecutive innings.
Takahiro Shiomi will probably get tomorrow's start against the Hiroshima Carp.
Takeshi Yamasaki dropped by Kleenex Stadium yesterday to give the coaches an update on his right ring finger (avulsion fracture)-- he had a titanium pin inserted on the 13th. Yamasaki return to his home in Nagoya yesterday and will stay there for some rest until he begins his rehab in Sendai on the 20th. For now, it seems he'll need 4 weeks for a full recovery.
