Hanshin Tigers

Atsushi Nomi will probably start Friday's game against the Yomiuri Giants.

The Tigers held full squad practices today at Koshien.  All players (including foreigner and veterans, but not the younger players sent down to Ni-gun for playing time) attended the workouts.

Yasutomo Kubo played catch outdoors (40 meters) at Naruohama today.  He also did some running and threw the ball around a little with his left arm.

The distance at which Kubo plays catch will slowly be expanded over the coming days.

Team owner Shinya Sakai expects the team to be back at (or above) 500 by the All-Star break.  He also said that while he wanted to see the team finish with a 500 or better record during Inter-league play, he was ultimately ok with things because they managed to pull things together down the stretch.

Yomiuri Giants

Yasunari Takagi joined the Ichi-gun team for practice today.

Tatsunori Hara was pleased with how Taishi Ota collected 3 hits off Yuki Saito (HAM) today.

Yakult Swallows

The Swallows held full-squad workouts at Jingu today.  Yuki Shichijo also joined the Ichi-gun roster for practice (which including catch and some running).

The Swallows will host Nippon's Smile: From Akita! Tohoku, Akita Day on the 26th (vs Yokohama).  A Namahage is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Hiroshima Carp

The Carp plan on adding Masato Akamatsu to the active roster -- he'll join the Ichi-gun roster for practice today.  Akamatsu is coming back from a stress fracture (left rib cage he suffered on 4/17.

Yuki Saito (back pains) tossed BP on the 19th and didn't experience any pains while or after his outing.  He is now scheduled to start a Ni-gun game against Softbank on the 26th.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars held practice at Yokohama Stadium todayTakehiro Ishikawa took part in early BP, regular BP, and after practice BP.  Roving batting coach Shigeru Sugimura told reporters he felt that Ishikawa was the key player in the line-up -- if he can gets on base consistently, the offense will score more runs.

The Bay Stars may give Luis Gonzalez and Yota Kosugi a shot at the starting rotation.  They also have pitchers like Daisuke Miura, Naoyuki Shimizu, Tomokazu Oka, and Stephen Randolph making adjustments at Ni-gun, but none apparently seem ready to return to the active roster yet.
