Seibu Lions

Tatsuya Oishi tossed a shutout inning in relief during a Ni-gun game against Yokohama yesterday.  Oishi needed just 9 pitches to retire the side in order and also topped out at 143km/h.

Nippon Ham Fighters

A little more on Yuki Saito's start yesterday: only 2 of the 3 runs were earned -- an unearned run in the 3rd, a solo homer to Ryota Wakiya in the 5th, and a RBI double to left by Taishi Ota in the 7th; he threw 31 fastballs and 29 two-seamers; and 2,688 were on hand to watch the game.

Regarding his schedule moving forward: Saito will likely join the Ichi-gun roster sometime early next week (possibly the 28th) in preparation for a possible Ichi-gun start on the 29th vs Lotte (at Sapporo Dome).

Orix Buffaloes

Akinobu Okada checked out yesterday's Ni-gun game against the Hiroshima Carp in order to find out if Masaki Ihara deserved a shot at the starting rotation.  Ihara gave up a run on 5 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings of work; he also struck out 5.

Rakuten Eagles

Senichi Hoshino apparently thinks his players are too soft.  Hoshino also told reporters he wouldn't mind holding mini-interviews during games, similar to the way it's done during some MLB broadcasts.
