Chunichi Dragons

Masahiko Morino continues to struggle at the plate.  After a .208/.321/.292 April and a .203/.303/.297 May, Morino is currently .182/.237/.255 in the month of June.

Hanshin Tigers

Kyuji Fujikawa has not given up a run over his last 16 appearances (a span of 15 innings).

Takashi Toritani is 7-for-15 during his current 4-game hitting streak.  He's also at .308/.379/.442 during the month of June.

Yesterday, Shunsuke played in both of the Tigers games: a Ni-gun game against Orix (started in left and batted second; 2-for-4, 1 RBI) and an Ichi-gun game against Yomiuri (entered game as a pinch-hitter in the 8th and took over in left; 0-for-1).

Seems Matt Murton read a copy of Robert Whiting's You've Gotta Ha Wa just after the start of the season this year.

According to Sanspo, Murton was also warned by the home plate ump after the first inning in last night's game to keep things moving along while in the batter's box (seems Murton was taking too much time getting settled in the box).

FYI: Murton had a .234/.279/.344 April and a .307/.358/.375 May.  And so far in June: .390/.393/.593.

Daiki Kiyohara started a Ni-gun game against Orix yesterday and tossed 5 shutout innings while giving up 2 hits (no walks).

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants announced yesterday that they'll be hosting Fantasy Open Field 2011 on 8/14 (vs Hiroshima) and 8/21 (vs Yakult).  Elementary school kids with tickets to either game will have a chance to experience what it would be like to work at Tokyo Dome.

Yakult Swallows

It appears Josh Whitesell's family is currently in Japan: his wife Melissa and his twins kids Brady and Brooke. (apologies if I misspelled the names.)

Yokohama Bay Stars

Shun Yamaguchi has two losses this year, both coming in games that Kentaro Takasaki started and both due to the long ball:

6/4 vs Lotte - up 5-3 he gave up a 3-run homer to Tae-Kyun Kim in the top of the 9th.

6/24 vs Yakult - up 1-0 he gave up a game-tying RBI infield single to Yuichi in the bottom of the 9th, then a walk-off homer to Josh Whitesell in the bottom of the 10th.
