Nikkan Sports reports that Seiichi Uchikawa (right hamstring) started his rehab at the Saitozaki indoor training facilities yesterday (mostly light upper-body exercises). It seems there's also a good chance he won't be able to return to the active roster until late July or early August.
Tatsuya Oishi pitched in a Ni-gun practice game against Mitsubishi Juko Yokohama yesterday gave up 2 runs on 3 hits over an inning in relief (7th inning). He also topped out at 143km/h and threw 31 pitches. Oishi's workload will slowly increase over time since the Lions still see him as a starter.
Chiba Lotte Marines
Shoitsu Omatsu was removed from last night's game in the 4th inning, on defense, with stiffness in his left hamstring. Omatsu has apparently been complaining of tightness in his left hamstring for a while now. The team will decide what steps to take next after they see how he's feeling today.
Nippon Ham Fighters
Yuki Saito's workouts yesterday included trunk strengthening exercises and running. He is scheduled to return to Hokkaido on the 27th for his start against Lotte on the 29th.
Senichi Hoshino was understandably upset about the 9 walks and 2 HBPs his pitchers allowed in last night's game against the Seibu Lions. He was especially upset about the walks and HBP that came before the two homers in the bottom of the 9th that cost the Eagles a victory.
