Hiroshima Carp: Kenjiro Nomura suspended for 2 games

by on Jun.27, 2011 @ 3:31 pm, under NPB

NPB Commissioner Ryozo Kato decided to suspend Hiroshima Carp manager Kenjiro Nomura for 2 games (6/28 and 6/29) for bumping an umpire and getting ejected from yesterday's game against the Chunichi Dragons.

Kyohei Nakamura hit a high chopper to third and both Nakamura and the throw from third reach first at about the same time.  The first base ump called Nakamura out and Nomura leapt out of the dugout to argue the call, and in the process, shoved the first base ump with both hands and wouldn't back off (he kept following the ump around).

The last time a manager was suspended: 8/2002 - Masataka Nashida (Kintetsu)
The last Central League manager: 5/2000 - Senichi Hoshino (Chunichi)

I think there were only 6 or 7 seconds between the out and ejection call. I wonder if that is the fastest for a manager.
