Jose Ortiz took batting practice today (one of the coaches acted as BP pitcher). Said Ortiz, "It felt good. If there aren't any problems, I'd like to try and play in a [Ni-gun] game on the 28th."
In order to celebrate Kazuhisa Makita's first career Ichi-gun save, the Lions will be selling limited edition commemorative baseballs for 1,800 yen. Each baseball will come with a display case and a serial number.

Yuki Saito took part in his last day of practices at Kamagaya today (he's heading to Sapporo tomorrow). Saito threw 51 pitches in the bullpen and told reporters he had a good session. After practice, he spent about 20 minutes signing autographs for the 200 or so fans that gathered around him.
So Taguchi was given the day off today. Said Akinobu Okada, "He's got the day off today. He doesn't have to do anything. He looked really tired toward the end of yesterday's game. I thought about taking him out, but I told him to go one more inning."
