Tsuyoshi Wada will probably get Wednesday's start against the Rakuten Eagles.
Yusei Kikuchi joined the Ichi-gun team for practice yesterday and told reporters that he hasn't been informed of anything but would love another opportunity to pitch in an Ichi-gun game. He could get Thursday's start against the Orix Buffaloes.
Chiba Lotte Marines
The Marines wore their pink retro uniforms Sunday (they'll wear the uniform 5 times this season and this was the 2nd time). Kazuya Fukuura recalled the days when he actually wore the uniform: "I was a pitcher back then and I wore the number 70. I do feel a little nostalgic."
Nippon Ham Fighters
Yuki Saito took off for Sapporo out of Narita Airport yesterday. He'll be rejoining the Ichi-gun roster in Sapporo and will start Wednesday's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines (Sapporo Dome).
Kensuke Tanaka had surgery on his left foot (for a talus fracture) yesterday. He'll be discharged from the hospital sometime this week and will begin his rehab. Tanaka is expected to miss 4-6 months.
The Fighters set a new franchise high by striking out 17 times Sunday. Micah Hoffpauir led the pack with 4 strikeouts, followed by four players with 2 strikeouts and five players with 1 strikeout.
Said Masataka Nashida, "It's good to set new records. That's why they're there. And there's no difference between easy outs and strikeouts."
