PL News and Notes: Takeya Nakamura (SEI) slams 5 homers in 3 games; first to 20

Softbank Hawks

Seiichi Uchikawa continued his rehab at the Saitozaki training facilities today (walking, stationary bike, game of catch, and treatment for his right hamstring).  He also spent some time signing autographs for about 20 fans.  Uchikawa is hoping he'll be capable of playing at the All-Star series.

Seibu Lions

Takeya Nakamura is the first player in either league to hit 20 homers.  5 of which have come in his last three games.

For some perspective: Nobuhiro Matsuda (SOF) has the second most homers in the PL with 12 and Wladimir Balentien (YAK) is pacing the CL with 16 homers.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yu Darvish became the first pitcher in either league to win 10 games this season.  Daily Sports also mentions that Darvish's 10 wins in the Fighters' 56th game of the season supplants Colby Lewis' 21st Century speed record of 10 wins in Hiroshima's 60th game in 2008.

Orix Buffaloes

Chan Ho Park had his left leg checked out at a hospital today and was diagnosed with a minor left hamstring strain that'll take about 3 weeks for a full recovery (1 week until the pain goes away and 3 weeks until he's ready to start playing again).

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles may lead the PL with 4 walk-off victories so far this year, but they also haven't been able to win any of the games that followed their walk-off victories, including tonight's game against the Softbank Hawks.

Manabu Mima will probably require 10 days to 2 weeks for a full recovery from his injury (inflammation in his right forearm).

According to Nikkan Sports, Senichi Hoshino told (or perhaps suggested) all his pitchers today to get their hair shaved down.  Seems he got the idea after Hiroshi Katayama showed up to practice with his head shaved.
