All-Japan University arrives in the US

Sponichi reports that the All-Japan University team arrived in the US on the 30th at around 7:30pm, about 3 hours later than planned.  From there, they boarded a bus bound for Forest City, NC (about an hour away).  They were also originally scheduled for a practice session, but that had to be canceled.  The team instead spent some time signing autographs for the locals.

Sports Hochi goes into a little more detail: the team apparently ran into airplane troubles in Dallas that stranded them close to 7 hours.  They were originally supposed to arrive in Forest City before 5pm and their scheduled practice was going to last 3 hours.  But since they didn't arrive in Charlotte Airport until 3 hours later, they had to cancel their practice session.

Sponichi also mentions that while Tomoyuki Sugano will be used as a reliever during the first two games of the series, he probably start game 3 or 4 (dependent on how the team does during the first two games).

And Sports Hochi says that for the time being, Takahiro Fujioka is still slated to start the first game of the series.  But if he's still not ready, he'll flip starts with Game 2 starter, Yusuke Nomura.  After that, it'll probably be Nao Higashihama and Sugano for Games 3 and 4.  The Game 5 starter will be whomever starts Game 1.
