The media learned yesterday that the Ashikaga Kogyo High School (Tochigi) baseball team had decided to suspended all baseball activities after a number of second and third year students kicked 22 first year students in the butt (amongst other things). Regarding the Tochigi regional tournament that begins on the 9th, the high school said they had already contacted the Tochigi High School Baseball Federation and wanted to finalize their decision as soon as possible.
UPDATE 7/7 @ 1:48am - The Tochigi High School Baseball Federation announced that Ashikaga Kogyo has withdrawn from the Tochigi regional tournament.
According to the high school, they received a notice from the Federation on the 6th that said the school was not in the position to play any games and that led to the high school's "voluntary" withdrawal from the tournament.
The high school also included in their reports to the Federation (submitted on the 4th) that between mid-May and late-June, 22 first year students were kicked by upper-class students and that a portion of them were also slapped in the cheek.
