Chiba Lotte Marines

The Marines currently have 69 players on their roster.  Norifumi Nishimura and other members of the front office are planning on taking a look at their current group of 11 Ikusei players to see if any of them are ready to make the transition over to the 70-man roster.  Two possible candidates include Kota Sumi (.290/.379/.323) and Yuji Nishino (2.42 ERA, 22.1 IP, 21 SO).

Nippon Ham Fighters

There's a chance Yuki Saito could be the starter for the first game after the All-Star break (7/26 vs Orix).

As for his Ni-gun game against Seibu today: he tossed 2 shutout innings, struck out 1, gave up 1 hit, threw 30 pitches, and topped out at 143km/h.

1st inning - single to right, sac hit, walk (runners on first and second), double play.
2nd inning - ground out to short, strikeout looking, fly out to center.

Said Saito of the start, "My goal for the game was to work on throwing the fastball.  I was able to do that.  With regards to my fastball, at least for today, there were no problems."

As of now, he is expected to return to the active roster in time for a start on the 11th (vs Rakuten at Sapporo Dome).

Wrestler Hiroshi Tanahashi (New Japan Pro-Wrestling) will be a guest at Sapporo Dome during a game on the 11th against the Rakuten Eagles.
