The All-Japan University team took the final game of the series the USA National Collegiate Team on the 8th. The US took the series, 3-1-1.  The US has now won 22 of the 38 tournaments the two countries have played since 1972.

Ryosuke Obuta was named Japan's MVP.

USA manager Tim Jamieson had the following to say about the tournament and about Fujioka and Sugano:

[Japan] is a fundamentally sound team.  They're very good at advancing runners. There are lot of things we can learn from them. ... #17 (Fujioka) and #18 (Sugano) left a lasting impression.  They were able to throw all their pitches for strikes and were capable of racking up the strikeouts.  I'd love for them to come play in the US.
