Kenji Otonari could get Thursday's start against the Rakuten Eagles (Kleenex Stadium). For Otonari, it would be his first Ichi-gun start of the year.
Koji Akiyama has given Seiichi Uchikawa the green light to participate in the All-Star series. Uchikawa will probably be activated on the 18th and be used as a bat off the bench. He'll most likely be used in similar fashion during the All-Star and then return to the starting-up after the All-Star break.
Uchikawa is scheduled to begin practicing with his cleats on beginning today.
FYI: players that take themselves out of the All-Star series, for whatever reason, are not allowed back onto the active roster for 10 days after the All-Star break ends.
Owner Masayoshi Son wants to make Yahoo Dome more eco-friendly by installing solar panels (or some other renewable energy source). But there is an issue regarding solar panels being too heavy for the roof.
Hiroyuki Nakajima on getting hit last night:
They had a meeting on the mound before the HBP and Sanpei (Takeya Nakamura) and I were guessing they'd come with an HBP and just as expected. Ridiculous. What a pathetic team. I'll step up on this. No matter what it takes.

Yuki Saito struggled again last night (4 IP, 6 H, 2 SO, 2 BB, 4 R, 2 ER). Masataka Nashida told reporters he had no plans of demoting Saito. Regarding his next start, pitching coach Masato Yoshii said that he didn't think it would be at Tokyo Dome (19th and 20th vs Rakuten Eagles), which means it'll most likely be on the 17th vs Seibu (at Sapporo Dome).
Said Saito, "It wasn't as if I wasn't throwing the ball well. There may have been an issue of relying on my breaking pitches too much. I'm frustrated that I couldn't get through 5 innings. ... I was lucky with the 2 wins during the first half. Now I need to win based on skill. I think my fastball is ok."
The Eagles' new back-end trio (AKD): as in Kenji Aoyama (A), Shinichiro Koyama (K), and Darrell Rasner (D).
Scouts from three MLB teams (including the Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros) were scheduled to check Hisashi Iwakuma out during a Ni-gun rehab start today against Yakult. A total 6 MLB clubs may have attended since the Eagles received a number of calls (including the Texas Rangers) about Iwakuma at the end of June.
