Hanshin Tigers

Tomoaki Kanemoto continues to struggle.  In 11 games so far this month: 3-for-27 with 5 TB, 7 SO, 5 BB, .111/.250/.185.

Takahiro Arai could return to batting 4th again today.  Arai went 8-for-27 (including three 2-hit games) after he was dropped to the 6 hole.

Of the 21 runs Randy Messenger has allowed, 10 have scored from the 6th inning on.

The Tigers have only managed to score 4 runs over their last 5 games.  The 4 runs came in two games against the Yomiuri Giants; the Tigers were shutout out in the three other games.

Owner Shinya Sakai was at tonight's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars at Yokohama Stadium.  It marked the third time this season that Sakai caught a game on the road and it also put a stop to a streak of 7 straight victories in games he physically attends.  Incidentally, the Tigers are 0-3 in the 3 road games (0 runs scored) Sakai has watched in person.

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants have scored a total 10 runs in the 7 games Hirokazu Sawamura has lost so far this.

Yakult Swallows

The Swallows have won 8 in a row (includes 2 tie games) against the Yomiuri Giants, a first since 8/11/1957.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Shuichi Murata switched to a lighter bat this season, from 970 grams to 930 grams.  Yesterday, he decided to try using a heavier bat and switched to one that weighs 950 grams.
