Hanshin Tigers

Tomoaki Kanemoto moved into a 9th place tie with Masahiro Doi for plate appearances on the All-time list with 9,853.

Tomoyuki Kubota was taken off the active roster yesterday so that he can get some work in at Ni-gun during the All-Star break.  He's already scheduled to pitch in a Ni-gun game against Softbank on the 26th.

The Tigers announced that they will begin handing out Tadashi Wakabayashi Awards to players that not only excel on the field, but also demonstrate a commitment to the community and to the fan base.  The award will be given out to one player in the Hanshin organization every year, beginning this year.

Yomiuri Giants

Tatsunori Hara met with team chairman Tsuneo Watanabe today for about an hour to an hour and a half to talk about the first-half of the season.

Said Hara, "It was just a report about the first season and how we would continue to work hard in the second half.  Just baseball stuff.  He didn't suggest or order me to do anything.  He just told me that he wanted me to work hard because they were leaving everything up to me. ... That he wanted us to do our best and make the fans happy."

The Giants announced today that Alex Ramirez will be donating a 1M yen each to the Mother-Child Support Group (全国母子生活支援施設協議会) and to the Tokyo Baptist Church as part of his Rami-chan Dream Project (donating money based on a point system where 1 point = 10,000 yen).

The breakdown of the 2M yen: 68 hits = 68 points, 39 RBI = 39 point, 12 homers = 36 points, and 30 team wins = 30 point for a total 173 points.  Ramirez added in an additional 270,000 yen to make it an even 2M yen.

Yakult Swallows

Junji Ogawa told reporters yesterday that he felt Yoshinori Sato held the key to the second half of the season.  He could get a start during the Swallows' 3-game series against the Yomiuri Giants (7/29-7/31).

The Swallows announced today that they will be hosting Jingu Summer Vacaction Campaign 2011 during 17 home games this summer (between 7/26 and 9/1).  The festivities will include fireworks after the 5th inning (300 shots) and a radar gun / t-ball area (between 3pm and 7pm).

They also announced that Daichi Hashimoto (pro wrestler) will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on the 27th (vs Hiroshima).

Yokohama Bay Stars

Takao Obana met with the front office yesterday to give them his report on the first-half of the season and to talk about the second-half of the season.
