The Japan High School Baseball Federation (JHBF) announced that baseball players from Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima (areas hit hard by the earthquake and tsunami) will participate in the entrance parade while holding a large Ganbaro! Nippon banner during the opening ceremonies on 8/6.

27 students from 9 schools in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima will sing the Koshien theme, Eikan-wa kimi-ni kagayaku (栄冠は君に輝く).

And the concept behind this year's Koshien is Kizuna, or the ties that bond / togetherness.

The JHBF also announced a partial list of the Koshien practice schedule.

July 31st -

Chiben Gakuen (Nara)

RyukokuDai Heian (Kyoto)

Hachiman Shogyo (Shiga)

Seki Shoko (Gifu)

The practices will begin at 9am with each school getting 30 minutes.

Practice schedules between 8/1 and 8/3 will be posted at a later date.
