The NPB umpire's association and the NPB rules and regulations committee is hoping to standardize rules at domed stadiums, beginning next season. Head umpire Osamu Ino and rules and regulations committee member Yoshihito Igarashi (sp?) visited Seibu Dome yesterday in order to discuss their ideas with Orix Buffaloes' manager Akinobu Okada (Kyocera Dome).
As of now, each domed stadium has their own set of special rules. And since the managers of each team have the option to override the special rules at their home stadium, the NPB is checking in with each of them to see if they'll agree with their plans. They have already approached Masataka Nashida (HAM, Sapporo Dome) and Hisanobu Watanabe (SEI, Seibu Dome) and have plans on visiting Tatsunori Hara (YOM, Tokyo Dome) and Hiromitsu Ochiai (CHU, Nagoya Dome).
Said Ino, "The rules at the domed stadium are all separate. Setting standard rules would make things easier for both the players and the umpires."
