The media learned today that the Ise Kogyo High School (Mie) baseball team had received a warning from the Japan High School Baseball Federation (JHBF) because a number of second year students were caught shoplifting.
According to Ise and the Mie High School Baseball Federation, a number of second year students shoplifted some candy from a store on June 16th. A third year student that witnessed the shoplifting reported the incident to an advisor after confronting the second year students. The manager of the team later sat down with the players and the shoplifting was confirmed (there were 8 second year students in the store at the time, but it isn't certain how many were actually involved).
Ise filed a report with the Mie High School Baseball Federation on the 18th. The JHBF then issued a stern warning to the high school right before the start of the Mie tournament (on the 22nd). Ise responded by competing in the tournament with only third year players (and they'll be using first and third year players at the Summer Koshien). They also reportedly submitted paperwork to the Mie Federation to withdraw from the fall tournament, to which the federation has already accepted.
