Orix Buffaloes: Hayato Terahara taken off active roster with tightness in right elbow

by on Aug.04, 2011 @ 8:07 pm, under NPB

Hayato Terahara was taken off the active roster today with tightness in his right elbow.

Terahara started feeling some tenderness in his elbow during his last start on 7/29 (vs Seibu at Seibu Dome).  He was originally planning to make his next scheduled start (tomorrow), but since the elbow showed no improvement, the team decided to take him off the active roster today.

The injury doesn't appear to be very severe and Akinobu Okada told reporters that they were just skipping his next start.  As of now, Terahara will part from the team on the 5th and return on the 9th in the hopes of a quick return (he'll be eligible to return on the 14th).

Evan MacLane will get Terahara's start tomorrow.

It’ll be good to see what MacLane can do. His only other appearance was a disaster, but he’s probably better than that. He’s a solid AAAA type, was in the Cards system for a while where I got to see him a couple of times.
