Sanspo is reporting that the Hashin Tigers could be sending Toru Miyake (international scout, vice director of team development) to the US as early as the 11th in order to get updates on potential player candidates from their two US scouts, Andy Sheets and Jeff Williams. But there may be even a bigger reason: to get a head start on trying to make sure their current crop of foreign players don't leave by meeting their agents (specifically, Matt Murton, Jason Standridge, and Randy Messenger).
A member of the Tigers front office said, "Meeting with agents? We are going to the US. If things falls into a place, I'm sure that'll be part of it. ... [Ryan] Vogelsong did well [in his return to the US]. There's no 100% guarantee that [our two pitchers] won't get offers. And Messenger is still young. We need to consider everything."
