Hiroki Kokubo returned to the Fukuoka today after his left flank area failed to show improvement (he was hit by a pitch last night) -- he is currently scheduled to undergo an examination at a hospital in Fukuoka.
Said Kokubo, "To me, it feels like I may have broken something. The last time I suffered a similar injury I was out for about a month."
UPDATE 6:50pm - Kokubo had his left flank examined (CT scan and MRI) today and was diagnosed with a contusion on his left back area.
UPDATE 8/6 @ 12:35am - Sanspo notes that the team will wait to see how Kokubo is feeling tomorrow before deciding what to do next, but a Nikkan Sports report mentions that Kokubo will get 2-3 days of rest before returning to the team on the 9th in time for the start of the Lotte series.
