Hiromitsu Ochiai was ejected from last night's game due to a delay of game (he spent too much time arguing a foul call in the 1st). That gives Ochiai 8 ejections over his career - 2 as a player and 6 as a manager. The 6 as a manager is good for a 3rd place tie on the All-time list for managers. The 8 ejections over his career also puts him in an 3rd place tie on the All-time list. And Ochiai is just the third manager to be ejected from a game in the first inning. The other two: Marty Brown on 4/7/2009 and Sadayoshi Fujimoto on 9/23/1967.
Ochiai is the 2nd CL manager to be ejected from a game this season.
Tomoaki Kanemoto played in his 2,401st game last night and moved into a 10th place tie with Yutaka Fukumoto on the All-time list.
Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi is scheduled to start a Ni-gun game against Hiroshima today. While Ikketsu Sho will most likely get Sunday's (8/14) start against the Yakult Swallows, the 6th man in the Tigers' starting rotation has yet to be selected, which means Shimoyanagi still has a shot at making his way back to the active roster.
Akira Iwamoto started a Ni-gun game against Hiroshima yesterday and tossed 3 shutout inning while allowing 1 hit (10 BF).
Daiki Enokida's Ni-gun outing yesterday was pushed back. No specific reasons were given, other than that his status was begin decided on a daily basis.
Alex Ramirez, Yoshinobu Takahashi, and Michihiro Ogasawara all went yard last night. It was the 3rd time this season the Giants hit 3 homers in a game, but it was first in franchise history that the 3-4-5 batters all hit homers in the same game. The trio of Ramirez, Takahashi, and Ogasawara have, however, hit homers in the same game on two other occasions: 8/19/2008 vs Yakult and 5/16/2010 vs Lotte.
Takeru Imamura contacted Hisayoshi Chono after Sunday's game to apologize for the HBP to the face. Chono apparently told the Imamura not to worry because he was alright.
