PL News and Notes: Yhency Brazoban (SOF) still needs more work at Ni-gun

by on Aug.10, 2011 @ 9:37 am, under NPB

Softbank Hawks

Yhency Brazoban pitched in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi yesterday and gave up a run on 2 hits and a walk over an inning of work.  He also topped out at 143km/h.  Brazoban will likely pitch in at least two more Ni-gun games (8/11 vs Chunichi and 8/13 vs Hanshin) before the Hawks decide on whether or not to activate him.

Alex Cabrera (left hamstring) will probably return to the active roster on the 12th (vs Nippon Ham).

Hiroki Kokubo took fielding and batting practice before last night's game against Lotte.

Seibu Lions

Yusei Kikuchi worked out with the Ichi-gun players yesterday.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito spent about 15 minutes with pitching coaches Masato Yoshii and Hiroshi Shibakusa on Monday.  Seems the coaches were giving Saito some pointers on his pitching mechanics.

Orix Buffaloes

Seung-Yeop Lee had his left shoulder examined on Monday and was told that there was no damage to his bones.  Lee hurt his left shoulder during a game on the 6th and sat out Sunday.  He also sat out last night but should be ok to return to the starting line-up again soon.

Rakuten Eagles

Hisashi Iwakuma told reporters after his start last night that his right shoulder still wasn't feeling very good.  He also asked to be taken out of the game.

15 players that will be participating in the 2011 Cal Ripken World Series attended last night's game between the Eagles and Buffaloes.  They also had a chance to meet with Senichi Hoshino before the game.
