A number of scouts from the New York Yankees (Billy Eppler), Texas Rangers, and Washington Nationals watched Yu Darvish pitch last night. The scouts from the Yankees and Nationals stayed for the entire game, including Darvish's here interview at the end.
Texas Rangers' Hajime Watabe - He's really a great pitcher. This was his bet game of the year.
Incidentally, they also happened to watch Darvish record his 90th win in his 157th game. That's 4th quickest behind Victor Starffin (143rd game), Hideo Fujimoto (148th game), and Koji Uehara (156th game). Other newsworthy numbers:
This marked his 4th season of 15 or more wins, which puts him in ties with active pitchers Fumiya Nishiguchi and Toshiya Sugiuchi. In franchise history, it puts him behind or in a tie with Masayuki Dobashi (6 times), Yasuo Yonekawa (5 times), Yukio Ozaki (4 times) and Tomehiro Kaneda (4 times).
He struck out 6 batters in a row for the 3rd time in his career.
He recorded his 47th double-digit strikeout game of his career and moved back into a 5th place tie with Sugiuchi on the All-time list.
