8/18/2011: Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, Kosuke Fukudome

Toronto Blue Jays 5 - Seattle Mariners 1
Ichiro Suzuki was the starting DH and batted first.  He went 1-for-4: ground out to short, pop out to second, infield single (run scored), double play.

Oakland A's 6 - Baltimore Orioles 5
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted third.  He went 1-for-4: single to center (run scored), fly out to center, ground out to first, pop out to third in foul territory.

Cleveland Indians 4 - Chicago Whites Sox 1
Kosuke Fukudome started in center and batted sixth.  He went 2-for-4: ground out to short, single to center, RBI single to center, pop out to third in foul territory.

Minnesota Twins 6 - Detroit Tigers 5
Tsuyoshi Nishioka started at short and batted ninth.  He went 0-for-3: ground out to second, ground out to second, fly out to right, sac bunt (reaches on fielding error, E1).

Texas Rangers 4 - LA Angels 3
Koji Uehara entered the game in the bottom of the 8th, with the Rangers up 4-2, and gave up a run (solo homer to Howard Kendrick) over an inning of work. Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 13-10 NP-S, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR.

New York Mets 7 - San Diego Padres 3
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the bottom of the 9th, with the Mets up 7-1, and gave up 2 runs (on 2 doubles) over an inning of work. Final line: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR.

Pawtucket Red Sox 5 - Columbus Clippers 2
Junichi Tazawa entered the game in the top of the 4th, with the bases loaded, 1 out, and Pawtucket up 5-1.  Tazawa faced just two batters to get out of the inning, but allowed one of the three inherited runners to score in the process.  He then went on to toss a shutout 5th and 6th before leaving with a runner on second and two out in the top of the 7th.  Final line: 3.1 IP, 12 BF, 40-26 NP-S, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO, 0 HR.

Daisuke Matsuzaka worked out at the Fort Myers on the 17th and told reporters that he was making good progress and might be able to start throwing a little earlier than originally planned.  His rehab program currently includes running, weights, and lower body and trunk strengthening exercises.

Cal Ripken Jr. held a baseball clinic for the 16 Japanese students visiting the US on the 17th.

    And Tazawa is making a great come-back from TJ surgery. His last outing yesterday in triple A Pawtucket :
    3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 K,
    he even hit 94 mph with his fastball.
    On 7.2 IP in AAA, 0 R and 11 K.

    I kinda hope Dice-K comes back stronger now.
