Wladimir Balentien did not make it into the starting line-up tonight because of tooth pains -- he went to the hospital to get his teeth examined during practice and didn't make it back to Tokyo Dome in time for the start of the game.
Balentien's status for tomorrow's game is unknown and will depend on how his teeth (or tooth) are feeling.
UPDATE 8/22 @ 1:49pm - Junji Ogawa couldn't figure out why Balentien didn't get his teeth (tooth) check out in the morning. Instead, he ended up leaving during practice and returning after the game started (around the 3rd inning). In the end, it may have worked out in favor of Balentien since he didn't have to face a pitcher he's had trouble with this season: Shun Tono (YOM) -- 2-for-12 with 6 strikeouts.
UPDATE 8/22 @ 2:36pm - The tooth (or teeth) pains were was located in the upper right portion of his mouth. They were also the same teeth he had problems with last summer. And the pain was so bad, he apparently couldn't sleep the night before.
