Maximo has really been burned by a lack of run support, he’s only given up 12 ER over 44 1/3 innings during the losing streak

Definitely a tough stretch for Nelson right now.

Masaru Takeda also ran into a stretch where he wasn’t getting much run support and was losing a bunch of games as well.

Guys, I was at the game Tuesday night. Talk about a player being snakebit. Top of the fifth, leadoff man gets on for Chunichi, the No. 8 batter bunts him to second. I’m thinking, what, so that the pitcher can take a shot at driving him in??? But Maximo, shockingly, smokes the ball over the CF’s head for a stand-up, cruise-in double…..and the man on second doesn’t score!! And they don’t get anything that inning. Should be 1-0 Dragons. Then in the bottom of the sixth, guess how the Yakult scored? Two outs, runners at the corners, Balentien hits a monster, sky-high pop-up in the middle of the diamond. Takes forever to come down. Fielders converge but no one takes charge, they’re looking at each other as it drops, right on or right next to the pitcher’s mound, and bounces high up. Not quite your standard, garden-variety infield double. The first run, the only one Maximo gave up, scores on that. Crazy!

Whoops, guess Maximo was still in there for the homer, my bad! Well, if you can’t score, you can’t win anyway.
