CL News and Notes: Tomoaki Kanemoto hits 466th career homer

Chunichi Dragons

Some fans were calling for Hiromitsu Ochiai to quit after the Dragons were handed their 18th shutout loss of the season Tuesday night.  The team has also hit a rut offensively: if they are held to 2 runs or less again tonight, this will end up being the first season they've been to 2 runs or less 9 games in a row since 1962.

Hanshin Tigers

Tomoaki Kanemoto recorded his 466th career homer tonight (good for sole possession of 11th on the All-time list).  It was also his 8th homer of the season.  That's the fourth highest total for a player in the year they turned 43.  The other three players: Hiromitsu Kadota with 18 in 1991; Hiromitsu Ochiai with  21 in 1996; and Takeshi Yamasaki with 9 in 2011.

Kanemoto now has hit 3 homers in his last 6 games.

Matt Murton was wearing sports glasses Tuesday night.  Murton first tried the glasses out during pre-game practices on 8/20 (vs Yokohama).

Said Murton, "I think I'll use these when I play in domed stadiums.  I think these will help me out."

It seems Takumi Akiyama won a chance to start an Ichi-gun game on the 28th against the Yakult Swallows (Koshien).

Yomiuri Giants

Michihiro Ogasawara was hit by a pitch on his left wrist Tuesday night and was not available to play tonight (he also skipped pre-game BP).
