Softbank Hawks

Nikkan Sports notes that Yhency Brazoban is currently working on a splitter.  He also threw something that looked like a splitter during tonight's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines (the pitch he got Kazuya Fukuura to fly out to center on), and pitching coach Ikuo Takayama confirmed it when he said, "He's working on a splitter during practices right now and I think that may have been it."

Munenori Kawasaki struck out 4 times in a game for the first time in his pro career Tuesday night.

Nagisa Arakaki started a Ni-gun game against Hiroshima on Tuesday and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits over 4.1 innings of work.  Arakaki could soon be ready (sometime mid September) for his first Ichi-gun start since 2009.  Koji Akiyama tempered the outlook by adding he had three other pitchers (Shota Oba, Hiroki Yamada, and Sho Iwasaki) for two spots in the starting rotation.

The Hawks are currently hoping Takahiro Mahara will be able to return to the active roster on (or around) 9/9.

Seibu Lions

Yusei Kikuchi took part in full squad practices at Hard Off ECO Stadium Niigata earlier today.  In addition to the usual workouts (like running), Kikuchi also spent some time working on his pick-off move to first and taking grounders.

Nippon Ham Fighters

The Nippon Ham announced that they're publishing a book entitled "Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters Dorm Food."  The book will contain various recipes to dishes players actually eat. The book will become available on the 26th for 980 yen.

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes dropped their 7th game in a row Tuesdsay night and Akinobu Okada once again turned down requests for a post-game interview.
