The latest on Tsuyoshi Nishioka, via MLB.com:
Shortstop Tsuyoshi Nishioka, who hasn't been in the starting lineup since Aug. 19 because of back spasms and a sore right oblique, also missed Saturday's game. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Nishioka is close to returning, but he is being extra cautious because he doesn't want Nishioka to hurt his oblique further by playing when he's not ready.
"I want to see him play in September, so I'm giving him a couple of extra days here to see where he's at," Gardenhire said. "I think today I saw him out there, he's throwing to first and the ball is coming out of his hand already better today than it did yesterday. So I think we're getting close."
