by on Aug.29, 2011 @ 1:39 pm, under MLB

Games from the 28th:

Chicago White Sox 9 - Seattle Mariners 3
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: line out to right, single to center, ground out to second, single to left, ground out to second.  This was Ichiro's 50th multi-hit game of the year.  He also needs 49 more hits in 30 games to reach 200.

Kansas City Royals 2 - Cleveland Indians 1
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted sixth.  He went 0-for-4: GIDP, fly out to left, ground out to first, ground out to second.

Nikkan Sports points out an ESPN Insider article that talks about how Ichiro Suzuki might have been the "unfortunate recipient of superb fielding on the balls he puts in play."

The latest on Tsuyoshi Nishioka, via MLB.com:

Twins shortstop Tsuyoshi Nishioka, who hasn't been in the starting lineup since Aug. 19 because of back spasms and a sore right oblique, was held out of action again on Sunday against the Tigers.

But he took infield practice prior to the game and could return Monday against the White Sox.

"He should be available tomorrow," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "I gave him a couple extra days here. I'll talk to Nishi, but I'm assuming he'll be ready to play tomorrow."
