NPB and JPBPA discuss Chunichi Dragons’ roster move from last year

by on Aug.31, 2011 @ 5:03 pm, under NPB

The NPB Player Relations committee met with the JPBPA yesterday in order to discuss problems stemming from the Chunichi Dragons removing every player from the active roster before the start of the Climax Series last year.

The Dragons wanted to confuse opponents by removing all their players from the active roster before the Climax Series, but in doing so, they also kept all their players from gaining service time towards their FA options.  The JPBPA wants to know if anything can be done for the players and whether or not the exception clause can be used.

The NPB Player Relations committee chairman, Kiyoaki Suzuki, told reporters that the meeting was held in order to allow them to gather information for an upcoming executive committee meeting on the 9/5.
