Shuichi Murata is scheduled to earn his International FA option today.
Team president Takao Kaji via Sports Hochi:
"The option is his right so we need to respect that, but we'd like for him to stay in Yokohama forever."
And via Sponichi:
"The option is an individual's right. We're prepared to talk to him if he wants to discuss his option during the season. We would of course love for him to stay with the team."
UPDATE 9/4 @ 12:20am - Murata told reporters on Saturday that he wasn't going to think about the option until after the season. He also said, "Whether I play in Japan, overseas, or stay with the team, the most important thing for me is to get back to where I need to be. I need to focus on playing well over the remaining games [of the seasons]."
Regarding the possibility of playing in the US, he jokingly told reporters he'd think about it if he could learn how to speak English.
