Softbank Hawks

Takahiro Mahara tossed a shutout inning in relief against Ni-gun Hiroshima on Sunday.  He also allowed 1 hit, struck out 1, and topped out at 152km/h.

"We were informed of his outing," said pitching coach Ikuo Takayama.  "I think it's still going to take a little more time.  Unlike last time, he's working his way back from an injury this time."

The team will check to see how Mahara is feeling today before deciding on what to do next.

The Hawks dropped their 3rd straight series yesterday for the first time this season.

Seibu Lions

The media learned yesterday that the Lions may want Hisanobu Watanabe to return next season (he's in the final year of a 2-year deal).  But there's also a chance Watanabe may decline in order take responsibility for the team's poor season this year.

Takeya Nakamura has hit a homer in each of his last 4 games and is currently on pace to hit 49 this season.

Nakamura has hit a homer in 4 straight games one other time in his career: 9/22/2009 - 9/26/2009.

Nippon Ham Fighters

The Fighters were swept by the Orix Buffaloes last night for the first time since 8/2008 (the Buffaloes actually swept the Fighters twice that month: 8/13-8/15 and 8/28-8/31).

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles have prepared around 4,000 same-day tickets for tomorrow's game against the Orix Buffaloes.  They will also begin selling special "sokojikara" merchandise beginning tomorrow.
