LA Angels 7 - Seattle Mariners 3
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 0-for-5: ground out to first, ground out to second, fly out to left, ground out to the pitcher, line out to left.  Ichiro now needs 40 hits in 22 games for 200.

Hisanori Takahashi entered the game in the top of the 8th, with the Angels up 7-3, and tossed 2 shutout innings in relief (he also go Ichiro to line out to left in the top of the 9th for the second out of the inning).  Final line: 2 IP, 7 BF, 16-12 NP-S, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR.

Kansas City Royals 11 - Oakland A's 6
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted third.  He went 0-for-3: fly out to center, walk, strikeout swinging, ground out to short.

Detroit Tigers 4 - Cleveland Indians 2
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted second.  He went 2-for-4: strikeout looking, infield single, strikeout swinging, solo homer (5) to right-center.

Chicago White Sox 2 - Minnesota Twins 1 (Doubleheader, Game 1)
Tsuyoshi Nishioka entered the game in the bottom of the 9th as a pinch-runner for for Brian Dinkelman.

Washington Nationals 7 - Los Angeles Dodgers 2
Hiroki Kuroda started the game and gave up 5 runs on 8 hits (including 4 homers, 3 of which came in the bottom of the 1st) over 6 innings of work.  He also took the loss and dropped to 11-15.  Final line: 6 IP, 26 BF, 114-74 NP-S, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 9 SO, 4 HR.

Florida Marlins 9 - New York Mets 3
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the bottom of the 8th, with the Mets down 9-1, and tossed a shutout inning in relief.  Final line: 1 IP, 5 BF, 30-16 NP-S, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO, 0 HR.


Tsuyoshi Nishioka did not play in second game of a doubleheader on the 5th because of a sore right oblique muscle.  Said Nishioka, "I felt some pain in my oblique and talked it over with the trainer.  We decided it would be best for me not to play.  As for tomorrow, we'll decide on that by then."
