by on Sep.09, 2011 @ 2:23 pm, under MLB

Games from the 8th:

Seattle Mariners 4 - Kansas City Royals 1
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-3: solo homer (4) to right, bunt pop out to the pitcher, walk, single to right (steals second, steals third, run scored).  Ichiro now needs 37 hits in 19 games for 200.  His lead-off homer in the bottom of the 1st was his 44th of his career (8 x NPB, 36 x MLB), good for first on the all-time pro yakyu list (broke Yutaka Fukumoto's record of 43).

Chicago White Sox 8 - Cleveland Indians 1
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted second.  He went 1-for-4: pop out to short, GIDP, single to center, ground out to first.

Atlanta Braves 6 - New York Mets 5 (Doubleheader, Game 1)
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the top of the 8th, with the Mets down 5-4, and faced 5 batters before bowing out with the bases loaded and 2 out.  Final line: 0.2 IP, 5 BF, 28-15 NP-S, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO, 0 HR.
