The Giants announced on Thursday that they will return to normal field lighting conditions (during practices and games) at Tokyo Dome beginning Friday (9/9). That will be extended to a number of other lights (around the stadium, at the gates) on the 10th when energy restrictions are lifted.
Field lighting up to this point was scaled back to 442 lights during practice and 588 lights during games (690 during day games). Beginning tomorrow, that will go back to 562 lights during practice (day and night) and 806 lights during games (day and night).
The Giants also plan on keeping energy usage down by 15% by continuing to monitor the usage of other electrical items (air conditioning units, neon signs) and by continuing to use their power generators.
UPDATE 9/10 @ 6:00am - With the help of power generators, the Giants were able to drop electricity usage down to about 39.4% on average and about 40.8% during the months of July and August. And by continuing to use the power generators, they can still cut back by about 30%.
